D-Now

Here is some "marvelous" for your Monday...
A group of young people spending the entire weekend together 24/7 being taken deeper into the life of Christ and what it means to be His follower.
It's called Disciple Now Weekend.

You've probably heard about it before, or participated in one, chaperoned one or even taught at one.
All the churches in the area do it on the same weekend and although each one puts their own spin on it, they all gather together at night for a worship rally with music and a speaker.
They usually spend the night in "host homes" where they stay up all night, pig out, and have small group bible studies together.
It's a blast.  It's tiring.  It's awesome.

Now, I am the first to realize that not all that takes place during these weekends will have eternal value.
Some kids just come to be coming...it's something to do and it's where their friends will be.
Some kids are just going through the motions and it's just another thing they do every year.
Some kids get caught up in the emotional ups that take place and make decisions that really aren't genuine......Yeah,  I realize  that.
BUT...
Some kids "get it".
Some kids meet Jesus for the first time.
Some are challenged to step up to the plate to live sold out...and they do it.
Some receive a word of encouragement and are renewed and strengthened to keep being bold no matter what  it is costing them...friends, popularity, even family.
Some respond to a call on their lives to serve Jesus in ministry for the rest of their lives.
And if this event reaches ONE young person and impacts them for a lifetime,
then it's worth it.

So, thank you to all you youth pastors, chaperones and whoever you may be who has anything to do with D-Now wherever you may be.
You are making a difference.

Now I'm gonna take it closer to home...my girls were gone the entire weekend participating and
as a momma, seeing these two posts on instagram blessed me.

And when they got home last night hearing them share with tears in their eyes how encouraged they were by some of the things that were said and done this weekend....
Well, that's very "marvelous"  if you ask me.

Stephanie :)
