My most worn accessory and why I love it so much.

Today I get to introduce you to Becky.
She's the girl behind the cuffs I wear in just about all my pics.  It's really funny how we "met".  It all started when Nick told me about a girl on Instagram that he was following. He said she reminded him so much of me..... not as much in looks but her personality. Well that got my attention!  I mean, this is the guy that knows me better than anyone else on earth.  We've been by each other's side since we were 15 years old, so when he said that, of course the first thing I did was pick up my phone and check this chick out.   As I'm typing in her name, farmgirlpaints, I ask him, "Like how does she remind you of me?"   He goes on to say, "She just seems a lot like you.  She is always smiling, looks like she really enjoys life and she likes to take pics of her feet like you do.  I don't know...something about her does."

Well of course I stalked her feed.  Like crazy stalked.  I looked at all her pics..then went to her blog.  And then I got really crazy stalkerish and sent her an email telling her my hubs thinks we act alike.  She probably thought I was a weirdo but she was really gracious and sweet.

Honestly, as I looked at all her pics and read her blog posts and got just a peek into her heart, I was flattered that Nick would say that.  I can only hope that I sprinkle beauty the way she does with all she touches.  She shares her triumphs and her struggles with great transparency.
She is a blessing.

I was able to meet her in person last October and it only made me love her more.  She's the real deal y'all. AND....she blessed me and Heather with one of her cuffs that day.  Now when I say us Holden girls were happy....I mean we were hap-pay!

Heather had commented on a pic of hers about the phrase "Let go" so Becky knew what to put on hers.  She said she looked at my pics to find inspiration for mine and this is what she came up with...
~swoon.  That blessed me more than anything.

That started my obsession love for her cuffs and I've added quite a few since then.

This was my next one.
You can read why I chose the word "embrace" here.

Well of course I wanted my girls to have one of their own.  This was so hard choosing their word!
It took some time to decide ....and a phone call to my sis-n-law, Heather, to help me choose but we finally got it figured out and it was one of their favorite Christmas gifts.

And my latest addition is this little beauty.

It was a mother's day gift from Nick.  He picked out what phrase to put on it.
It's from a passage of scripture the Lord used in a huge way back when Nick surrendered to evangelism.

"But none of these things move me, nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God."  Acts 20:24

I'm gonna save the story behind it for another time, but the Lord has used this verse over and over again in my walk with Him since then.  My heart aches a little when I look down and see those words....aches in a growing pain kind of way.  Which is good.

I love all my cuffs.
I love when someone asks me what they say and a conversation is started and I can share my story... His story...with them.
I love when I see my girls wearing their cuffs and knowing the meanings behind why I chose them and how blessed I am to be their momma.
And I love Becky.
I love how she is using the gifts the Lord has given her for His glory.

I know you probably want a cuff for yourself and Becky is giving a discount for all of you.
Her shop is only opened for a limited time each month plus she's taking a break over the summer so she can soak up time with her sweet girls...so if you want one you better go get one!

Handmade Goodness

I was so overwhelmed by the special and unique gifts that were given this year at Christmas in my family ...many of which were handmade.
I LOVE that!
I wanted to share them with you....
Some that others made for me and some that I made for others.
And... all the awesome handmade on-line stores that I shopped at but couldn't show you cuz I didn't want to spoil the surprise in case the person I bought it for read my post (whew).... well now I can share all about these talented ladies!
I'm not gonna give it all to you today though....I'm gonna spread the goodness out and give you a sprinkle here and a sprinkle there.

1. Something I made for others
These dish towel aprons!  You can check out the post that inspired me {here}.  These are totally cute from the front but if you were to turn them over, you'd see that I am not a seamstress!  Thank goodness I'm not a perfectionist cuz these babies would have never made it under the tree!

2.  Something that was made for me
I was so blown away by the gifts that others made for me! This is SO hard to only show one today. But here is one of my favorites!!!  My oldest daughter and her husband set them a budget for what they could spend at Christmas and used it wisely.  They practically made everything they gave this year and we ain't talking rink-dink stuff!!  Check this out.....
A vintage cake plate!
They bought the plate at a thrift store and the candle holder at an antique store.
I think they paid a total of $3.75!!!!
That makes me love it even more :)

3. Something handmade that I bought for others.
Now I can spread the love for all the wonderful shops and ladies that I bought gifts from this year.

This first one is from someone I've already shared...Kate and {The Adopt Shoppe}.
Remember when I shared about why the word joy is so special to me and my mom? {here}
Well, I had Kate custom make this for my mom with the meaning my brother came up with.

She loved it.

I can hardly wait to show y'all more of all this handmade goodness!!

Hope y'all are having a wonderful day.

Stephanie :)

Just to say thanks...

One day when I was perusing Pinterest I stumbled across this picture..

 No truer words

I loved it at first sight.
I loved what it said.
"Anything good you see in me is because of Jesus Christ".
This is something that I've known since the Lord saved me but in the last several years, I've come to KNOW this with my head and my heart.
Nothing like a few painful lessons in humility for me to learn this truth in a HUGE way.
"Anything good you see in me is because of Jesus Christ".
No truer words.  For reals.

I pinned this to my "words" board with all of my other inspiring quotes and stuff.
And then it dawned on me.
"This is a necklace!!  It's for sale!!  Stephanie, you can buy this!!  It can be your very own!"

So I tracked down the wonderful creator of this beauty and there I discovered Kate.
She is the owner of her Etsy shop
And not only did I find a bunch of gorgeous, God honoring,  pretties there...
I also discovered that 100% of her profit goes towards their second adoption!

So, I ordered my necklace as fast as my fingers could type.

I loved it even more in  person!
And I just adore Kate.

Here is a little bit of her story.
******************************************************************
I am Kate. I am a blessed mother and wife. My husband and I lost 2 baby boys before we had our 2 biological children. We could not have any more children. Through the miracle of adoption, we are blessed to have another daughter and we are in the process of adopting again!! I opened my little shop to help pay for our adoption expenses.
Every penny of profit goes toward our adoption(s).
I am passionate about orphans and try to do everything I can for them. Whether it is a child in Africa, on the other side of the world, in a homeless shelter, or foster care system here in America, there is no difference. These children in need {through no fault of their own} need the ORDINARY people in this world {like me and you} to give them help to change their world for the better. We can't change the whole world by helping just one, but the whole world for that one...CHANGES.
There is also a message behind my work. I hope what I make is inspiring to you! I try to design each wooden tile necklace to be a "billboard for your heart".
****************************************************************************************************

Isn't  her heart just precious?
And here are her precious children..
 Aren't they just beautiful?

This is Mia.
Their little love from Tiawian.
Now they are on their second adoption journey and all of the profits from their shop goes towards bringing their baby home.  Yay to that!
