A Double Scoop of Delight Please..

My oldest daughter is staying with us this week while her husband is on a mission trip to Honduras.  They will celebrate their 4th anniversary this November. They have such a sweet love story of purity and waiting on the Lord for His timing.

Of course I've enjoyed having the grand babies being  here this week..
But so far, one of weeks hi-lites has been with Elizabeth....

Elizabeth had always shared a room with her sister, Lydia.  They slept in the same little double bed together all the way to the night before Elizabeth's wedding.  She went from sharing a bed with her sister to sharing a bed with her husband.

That last night before the wedding, as I heard them giggling and talking in their "sister voices"while being silly in bed, it dawned on me that that would be the last time I would get to walk by their room and hear that.  For a moment, this momma's heart almost broke when the reality of her being gone from our home.  (We definitely don't feel like we lost a daughter, when she married.  We totally gained a son.  And I don't just say that lightly.)  But I knew we were losing her everyday, daily presence in our home.  Sigh.  But this is what it's all about...and she and Chris bless me everyday as I watch them raise their family up loving on Jesus the way they do.

So when I glanced over at the couch and caught a glimpse of this...I just sat there taking it in.  Realizing that yes, life is all about the change.  The stuff we love so much, the comfort of routine, the fun of traditions...all that will change with the seasons of our lives.  And just when you think it will only be sweet memories to ponder, the Lord hands you a double decker ice-cream cone of delightful sweetness...

And the cherry on top was that that these two, a momma of almost three and a 20 year old (happy birthday on friday Lydia!), well..they fell asleep watching the Disney Channel!  :)

Happy Wednesday!
Stephanie :)
