Lately, I've been really digging the color white.
I'm usually all about color.
In fact, this year on my birthday a friend gave me the most adorablest (yes, i make up words) funky polka dot cross for my front door. When she was picking it out, she informed me she told them to give her the gaudiest, most colorful and loudest one. Was I insulted? Absolutely not! It's true...I'm drawn to sparkly colorful stuff.
But lately, the serenity of the color white is calling my name. I don't know if I'm evolving or if this is just a season, but I'm in love with stuff like this...
I mean, who wouldn't love this! Right?
I know!
So here is my attempt to add a little more white to my life.
This is the start of my new collection. I hope to add 4 or 5 more funky candlesticks in different sizes and shapes. But until then, we will start with these...
One is a thrifted silver-plated candlestick and the other is a hand me down brass candle holder...
Transformed into these two classy ladies :)
Now these little darlings came out of my mom-n-law's shed.
Originally, I had envisioned them a lovely shade of yellow but then this white thing happened. So.....
After a little spray and little time drying in the sunshine..
Violia'!! Just what I needed next to these canvases that were missing a little sumpn sumpn!
Well there have it... the beginning of my white evolution.
Kind of represents my heart of late.
You see, even though the Lord has cleansed it white as snow, I've let it get all spotty. Not colorful pops of color but ugly stains of sin. Dirt like bitterness and apathy and pride have tried to settle in and make its homestead. Yet, I'm so thankful for the washing of His word that cleanses us and renews us. Where there was once the chaos of the loud gaudiness of sin, the Lord is now making into a calming place of pure white peace where He enjoys abiding. Kinda like my brassy candlestick getting transformed into a "classy lady".
Reminds me of a hymn we sing with our granddaughters..
"......Oh precious is the flow,
That makes us white as snow..
No other fount I know,
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus"
I'll keep you posted on this white evolution.
The one taking place in my home and the one taking place in my heart.
Stephanie :)
That's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLuv the white thang you got going..:)
ReplyDeleteLovely! I fell in love with that loft on Pinterest!
ReplyDeleteWell, bless your heart! Knowing your heart got 'spotty' is half the battle! Good for you! I'm also a colorful, and yes, gaudy, type of gal, but lately.....yeah, white. Even in my food choices! I've gone from "if it ain't chocolate it ain't fit to eat" to "give me vanilla or nuttin'"!! Funny how we 'evolve', isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could do an all white room...although I would have to ban all puppies from going into it!
:)
